Mrs. Dalal Al Qais, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Development Bank, visited Shell Fisheries factory in the Industrial Area in Sitra in order to get a close look on the company’s activities such as preservation fish and crustaceans, manufacturing new products like fish fingers fried with rusk as well as cooked items like shrimps and other products in line with the needs of local and international markets, since Shell Fisheries is one of the successful businesses BDB has supported since the beginning

During the visit, Mrs. Al Qais, Mr. Mohamed Ali Al-Khayyer, Vice President of Banking Division at BDB and Mr. Ameer Ali Najaf, Manager of Banking Division of BDB looked at Shell’s facilities and the factory’s operations and reviewed the achievements of the company under the leadership of Engineer Sami AlSaif, Chairman of Shell and Mr. Ahmad Shukri, CEO of the company.

For her part, Al Qais praised the efforts made by the company’s management in developing its various operations and activities that includes processing and exporting sea food products and manufactured value-added products putting Shell on the map locally and internationally, which reflects the success of Bahraini entrepreneurs and the supportive ecosystem of SMEs in Bahrain led by BDB and all the relevant institutions.

Shell Fisheries was established in 2001 as a pioneer Bahrain based company in this field and got its first financial support from BDB in 2002.

, Shell Fisheries factory is certified by and in compliance with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards, and therefore the company ensures it applies high quality standard in all its operations The company currently owns three specialized factories in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In addition, it succeeded in expanding its activities in local, regional, and international markets exporting 86% of its products to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the United States, China, Japan, and other countries.

Through these visits, Bahrain Development Bank aims to get a better understanding of its clients’ activities and the various facilities and services these businesses require, in addition to enhancing the communication and maintaining a good relationship between the bank and its clients to improve the services and products provided by the bank to the small and medium enterprises.
